Fashion Night Out

Of course, NY is the place to be while venturing in and out of boutiques, mingling with celebrities, and simply thriving from the fashion street scene. My friends and I smooched with the meatpacking community before heading down to Soho. Amongst other surprises, I ran into the first two designers that gave me a shot in the industry 2 years ago-Trina Turk (above), and Jusarra Lee(below). I was so humbled!

Fashion Face Lift

Hi Darlins,

Yesterday after work, I needed a little "pick me up". You know? Something to just inspire me, and send me home wanting to paint my whole apartment or sketch endlessly. Well, I my desire wasn't too far fetched considering that this is NY. I skipped over to Kelly Mills' Fashion Art Gallery (http://www.faag.us/), browsed through hand made jewelry by Mari J. Brooklyn(http://www.marijbrooklyn.net/), and mingled amongst other fashionistas as we appetized before dinner in the New York skyline.Also showing in this pop up store is Mr. LaQuan Smith(We all looooove his story and it was such a pleasure to meet him.) So the evening was right on time and desert for my day.

My coworker recieved a bouquet of flowers the other day,and I'm always curious to see what the inside of the buds look like.So, I opened one of the flower buds. I watched and compared to the bud to a flower,and suddenly I had an epiphany!It came to me in such an unique form, because I'd been stressing a little about my next move in the industry. Recently, I've felt a tad bit "stuck", trying to "make moves" and push for my dreams. Well, fighting for what you want is cool and very necessary, but I've realized that God is preparing me just like this flower. If he let's us out before time, we would not have the same aesthetics, rich pigments, and power like this blossomed flower. You see,all of the rain, people, teachings, and knowledge that he pours into us is contributing to the beauty of our success.I also let the unblossomed bud that I opened stay in the bouquet. Guess what?It died
:-((I'm sure that had I left it alone, it would have blossomed into this beautiful fuschia flower like the others. Something to consider when I'm trying to move too fast or jump into things that we're not ready for. (Or the world isn't ready for us)He gives us a vision and a promise, so we should work towards that goal, but never get too frantic when things "seem" move a little slower than we expected. Cool?

This weekend was soooooo gorgeous! The weather was right, great people watching, and everyone just seemed so happy to bask in the glow of the sun. It was evermore refreshing to get back to Brooklyn for "Target free Saturdays." There are workshops and seminars all day long at the Brooklyn Musuem and a huge party to top it off at the end. Being in the mist of this diverse and vibrant crowd was super refreshing. By the way, DJ Mary Mac tore it up! Sweat my hair out!

The Essence luncheon that celebrated black women in hollywood seemed to be much more than just a normal star studded event. Maybe it's just me,but I get a positive overwelming feeling when I see so many successful, beautiful, black women in one setting. I am sure this was inspiring, touching, and so on. I couldn't help but to point out the fashion aspect of the event. The embellishments, beautiful pastel touches on the make-up, and the glow from each attendee.

Just a post and a sneak peek at Marco Hall's fall collection, which was presented in a midtown theater at the closing of fashion week. I was so freaking late, so there's not a lot of pics. However, I caught the finale and a clear glimpse of the make-up and banging band during the show. I applaud Marco for personally greeting his guest after the show dispite the chaos of taking pictures and such. I also caught a few style pics of guests that sparked an interest in me in some shape, form, or fashion.

HER ORGANIC COLLECTION GAVE US SIMPLICITY WITH JUST ENOUGH EDGE TO DRAW THE EYE TO THOSE SMALL INTRICATE DETAILS. THIS SOFT COLLECTION INCLUDED MANY DRAPED/SATIN CREAMS, OLIVES, AND GREYS. ONE COULDN'T HELP BUT TO NOTICE THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE CITY BEHIND THE MODELS, WHICH ADDED A ELOQUENT TOUCH TO THE PRESENTATION. Hi everyone,
During a conversation with my BFF the other day, we discussed and really elaborated on the "shoulders that we stand on." If we are completely honest with ourselves, we wouldn't have so many opportunities had it not been for those individuals that took MAJOR risks to break barriers that were once placed on our people. I appreciate not only the famous singers, actors, activists, etc, but I thank my family who have sacrificed so much for me to fulfill my dream! These Pioneers:Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Josephine Baker, Lina Horne, Chaka Khan, and Billy Holiday inspire me for their courage, for their keen style, and for their awesome integrity. Their beauty shines from such a deep place that I immediately become inspired when I think of them. Let's celebrate someone that has made a sacrifice for us not only during black history month, but everyday!

Runway Review-Tony Cohen

Tony Cohen treated his guests with a sweet Valentine's day collection and adorning his runway with black rose petals. His draped frocks, rendition of maxi skirts, and textured tights proved to be a delight to the audience. I enjoyed his layering and accentuation of the waist with Tye back belts on many of the pieces. I'll admit, I would have loved to see more color; my style is far from black&white,but overall it was a good collection.Also, I heard the gift bag goodies were pretty delightful:-))

My Favorite collection thus far is without a doubt Diane Von Furstenburg. Not only did she use my favorite prints/colors, but she had a wide diverse range of models. Her show was far from a simple fashion event:IT WAS A MOVING/INSPIRING EXPERIENCE!You could feel the Love from the audience as she took her finale stroll down the runway. Her inspiration was "A man in a Woman's Body." Her designer took the masculine framed garments and transformed them into a feminine masterpiece. By the way, I saw Andre Leon Talley. I'll have to write an entirely different post about that, because most of you know I love Andre!:-)) Thumbs up and 2 snaps Diane. I looooveeeee this Collection. This was one of the best Valentine's Day I've had in a looooooonng time!

The first show I attended this season was Christian Siriano. I'm such a huge fan of his choice of lightweight fabrics, over-exaggerated details, and of course his shoe collection. I'll admit, I adored his spring collection a lot more, but nevertheless he had a good show.BTW, Amber Rose and Veronica Webb were a few familiar celebrities that I noticed, adorned in printed pieces from Christian's Spring Collection.

Halloween night was uper cool...It's the only night you can pretend to be something else supernatural, act crazy, and be FREEEEE!!!!!I carried the night from Chelsea to the Meat Packing to the East Village. It was bananas indeed!Let's do a review of cliche'd costumes-ok..Police Officers, Sexy Bunny Rabbits, Princesses, Sexy Kittys,etc. (TIRED OF IT) However, There was indeed a very good mixture and versatility in the East Village.It never lacks originality. I dressed as Ms. Janet Jackson from Rhythm nation. The night was sooo hype that I'm already thinking about my costume choice for next year...

I attended my third meeting for BRAG (Black Retail Action Group)today at Saks Fifth Avenue. As usual, the panel included professionals in different areas of business including everything from marketing management to fashion retail. The focused discussion for tonight was "Reinventing A Brand." The panel included Danielle Douglass, the President of Inspire Enterprise, Inc., John Starks,a retired professional basketball player from the New York Knicks, and Sheri Wilson Gray, former Chief Marketing Officer of Saks Fifth Avenue. I hope the forum of Q&A inspires you as much as it inspired me.

Q#1.What are signs to let you know that you should move forward at your job?
Danielle Douglas:"When you feel like you're on a treadmill and standing still." "Also, when you feel complacency, mediocrity,and you can do your job with your eyes closed(you're not learning)."
John Starks:"If you're doing it just to recieve a paycheck, you don't have room to grow."
Sheri Wilson Gray: "I had it in my soul, even though it wasn't on my resume"

Q#2. How do you become a brand?
DD: "First, you must capitalize on your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.Get someone that's strong where you are weak."
SWG: "Connect the benefit proposition with a set of customers that care about it."

Q#3. How do you difference yourself?
DD: "First Decide who you want to become."
SWG:example:"There are things that you need a master's degree for and most of it isn't in fashion. Once you've graduated in debt, the money doesn't weigh out and you've fallen behind because the fashion market is changing everyday."

Q#4. Who has done a good job at reinventing their brand?
DD: " Apple (They were innovative and live your vision)
SWG: "Burberry(They started off with RAINCOATS!)"

Q#5. What are people doing in the tough economic downfall?
JS: " Taking a leap. You have to believe in yourself and have a game plan when you take that leap."
SWG:"Market Research. Find out what the customer wants. Full Sized clothing is under marketed. The clothes in the plus size section is either on the side, in the back, in the annex, or whatever. Point Blank. It doesn't make the customer feel good."

Everyone on this panel had one thing in common-THEY BELIEVED IN THEMSELVES! They knew what they wanted, (which was for most to be an entrepreneur) and they took the necessary yet risky steps to fulfill that dream. I commend them for their courage, faith, and persistence.

Miguel Antoinne presented his Spring 2010 collection on the rooftop in midtown Manhattan. It was a nice event to mingle, network, and simply enjoy the scenery of the river. After dressing the models,I caught some street style divas that gave us unique renditions of the black and white scheme and color block. A little cocktail gathering and networking keeps me going.

My schedule didn't exactly go as planned for fashion's night out, but it turned out wonderful nonetheless. Bergdorf's line was bananas, so my friend's and I walked 5Th ave..Cocktails at Versace, Peeped out Henri Bendels, listened to music at Bloomingdale's, walked the carpet at Tiffany's and ended the night in the meatpacking district with Jussara Lee. I wish Fashion's Night Out was hmmm every week. We totally missed out on Soho, which apparently had all pink barbies cutting cartwheels in the middle of Broadway. Everyone looked so Fabulous. Honestly, the fashionistas were decked out that night, and there were such positive vibes flowing through the city. Despite the free cocktails at nearly every store, I didn't notice any intoxication drama! GREAT!
Can't wait until next year...

Fashion's NIGHT OUT NY

The event that makes New York's Heart beat is quickly approaching, FASHION WEEK. I'll have my fair share of working shows this week, but I am really really anticipating FASHION NIGHT OUT!!!Over 700 retailers allows guests to enjoy cocktails, music,fashion consultant sessions, manis,pedis,and whatever. You name it and it's there! I have a list of my fav designers that I refuse to miss for the evening. I am sooo pumped to stop by Bergdorf Goodman for Andre Leon Tally's game show. Most of you know, I have been dying to meet this man..DYING..lol Hopefully my day will flow as planned and I'll be able to participate in his game amongst other fashionistas. Also, proceeds from the official "Fashion Night Out" T-shirt are donated to The National September 11Th Memorial Museum. I have to get by DVF, Trina Turk, Tracy Reese,Roberto Cavalli,Shelly Steffe, Missoni, Pieces(I know it's not enough hours in one night) hopefully I'll make it to most! Pics posting soon.....

The September Issue

I did it...I went to see "The September Issue," a documentary that takes you behind the scenes of Vogue magazine. It highlights the life of Anna Wintour and gives us viewers a clearer picture of what it takes to put together an issue of Vogue, particularly the September Issue(BC its the largest issue of the year). I couldn't help but refer to Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada during the documentary, because of Anna's very cold demeanor. I simply needed some inspiration today, and this did it. By the way, I have another level of respect for those Vogue editors! Seeing the sky scrapping and eye demanding Andre Leon Tally contribute to the largest fashion publication in America just puts me to work. He's a southern bell as well. On a side bar, the African American fashion community has come a long way, but we are still far from where I would like us to be. Of course, Vogue showed effort and broke a barrier by featuring Michelle Obama in an issue this year. However, I still see some division in the "Fashion World" of course. Anyway, we just have to push harder and harder and forget about breaking the barriers. WE HAVE TO KNOCK THEM DOWN! I could count the number of African Americans in the documentary,hmmmm on my fingers. No worries though! The BEST is yet to come. Where would the world be without us anyway?

This is a very random thought, but I am very sure I'm not the only fashionista who indulged and drooled over the pages of Suede and Vibe Vixen magazine. I still have one issue of Vibe Vixen/Suede, and I promise I've read every single line! Not to mention that Vibe Magazine just shut its doors a few months ago. What's happening to our black publications? I know we're living in a tech savvy/blog world, but it doesn't replace the enticement that comes from having the handy "go to" mag when you need a little inspiration. My Sistas and Brothas, we can't stop here! We can't be defeated. I'm interested in finding out what exactly goes wrong in the publication arena that sends those artsy,inspiring,hip hopish magazines sliding down the pole. Oh, I forgot all about Honey! Anyway, prayerfully we can regroup and get it back together. Suede's highlights of those "Off the Wall" successful individuals pushed me to keep striving for my dream that sometimes seems impossible.

Yesterday marked the 8 year anniversary of the death of Ms. Aaliyah Haughton. She was such a remarkable entertainer and singer,and she had such a huge impact on the music industry in the 90's. How many of us gathered around the television to learn the dance from "Are you that Somebody"? lol. Or better yet sat by the radio so we could tape it and practice. I never could perfect it to make it flow as smooth as she did though. She was the true epitome of effortless beauty, leaving her graceful presence everytime she sang or performed. Let us take time to reflect on the wonderful days that Aaliyah shared with us.
We imitated this look, over and over and over again! THE BANDANA WITH THE SWOOP FIRST, AND THEN WE SUBTRACTED THE SUNGLASSES AND ADDED THE RINESTONES!LOL

I just had to stop by the Model as a Muse exhibit one more time before it left the Metro Museum of art. I'm glad I did too, I noticed so much that I skipped over the first time. My friend Bebe and I took in every moment for the second time around after meeting with IMG for Fashion Week.Ahhhhhhh! I couldn't help myself

Love the 70s..If there's any other decade I could live, it would be the 60s or 70s!Woodstock, all of those glitz and glamorous parties with the whisky and cigs laid out on the coffee table just gives me chills. I'm not a druggie, but it just added to the ambiance in that era!

I've been lacking on catching my Brooklyn summer concerts, but last Thursday made up for it indeed. One of my boys and I caught the Purple Rain Sing-a-long in Prospect Park! It was the dopest of the dopest. A huge mixture of people( whites, hispanics, blacks,trini's, jamaicans, old, young,whoever) came together simply for their love of the same artist, PRINCE! How beautiful?!!!! I must say, and I'm sure most guest would agree that this was a Prince concert. You couldn't keep people off their feet. It's even more intruiging how Prince continues to influence the world through music and more importantly,through FASHION! Let's take a look

I've had a very long week. Work,class,living arrangements,and keeping up with my networks have been consuming, but last night was a small getaway. I cruised down the Hudson River with a bunch of 60 year olds with the spirit of David..lol They danced the night away, literally. My grandmother's friends took a vaca to the city and invited me to party with the crew on their dinner cruise. It's entertaining to sometimes engage in conversation with wise older cougars.lol And to say the least, they never failed to express how proud they are of me, and they're patiently waiting to see my dreams come true:-))I'm not sure which was more exciting:The cruise show or my grand's friends showing their Memphis ol school rhythm. Nothing's stopping them..ha!BTW, I wore one of my designsz:-))

The Fashion Show

To my understanding Project Runway is coming back, but to another broadcast after taking this season off. However, Bravo has given us a substitution(not replacement) for the well liked televised designer competition...THE FASHION SHOW. I get mixed reviews every time I converse with someone about this show, but nonetheless it is a start for emerging designers! I felt more than obligated to watch the show and support Mr. Reco Chappelle from Chattanooga, TN and graduate from Tennessee State University. I became familiar with Reco's story a few years ago when he auditioned for Project Runway,but did not make it to the second round. That's why it was evermore inspiring to see him as one of the four FINALIST on the Fashion Show.Still, some worry that his final collection was not a clear reflection of his stupendous designs throughout the show. I must admit, they were a bit abstract from the designs on previous challenges, but hey everything happens for a reason, right? Reco was voted off last week, but he has come a long way! I can definitely see the progression in his craftsmanship of garments. Way to go Reco...Hold it down for TN!And I live for his southern accent...
Oh, on a side note I love Kelly Rowland, but in the words of Andrea "An interest in fashion is crucial" "That's All":-))!

I attended a friend's wedding last weekend in Brooklyn. After being apart of the prepping process with the bride's family members prior to the event, I see that most Trinidadians don't short change the virtue of wedding planning. This was one of the smoothest weddings I've ever attended. With a medium sized party and a lot of guests, it seems as if everyone had a role in ensuring the cool flow of the ceremony. The reception took place at the beach in brooklyn, with such beautiful scenary. It rained just enough to let a glimpse of a rainbow peek out after the bride and groom's first dance..PERFECT!!!The little things have the the tendency to take my breath away sometimes. OH!Needless to say, We danced the night away litterally..Ever made it home after 2 am after a reception?lol

I'm a big fan of his style from his entertainment and the talents that he possessed. SIMPLY OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! THis album reminds me of a step show about 2 years ago, when my line sisters and I did a rendition of THRILLER! And we KILLED IT!!!1st PLACE!!! The stage lights, dj pumps the volume up,hypes the crowd,whoever walks out, and everybody screams!!Sooo,it's almost summer and I'm anticipating those summer concerts. Maybe one of the highlights of my year, and unlike the jammies at back at home...Most of the them in NY are free!Scratch a listening party? It's just something about live music. It's so funny because I have a different basket of friends to pull from to join me for each type of artist or each genre of music.

Although I am Very Blessed and I extremely priveledged to live in New York,one thing still remains true. My coins are tight!!..Living off of my savings until God sends that blessing my way. Anyway, I must "penny pinch," which is a routine that everyone should practice in these tough times(even with a job). So, I've decided to limit my trips to the hair salon to once a month vs. every 2 weeks.( Or sometimes every 2 months)I've become so adjusted to my dominican blowouts, but its starting to get warm so I can roll with a "wash and go" or some cool curly styles. I attended Brooklyn's Fashion Show this Weekend.My first BK fashion show!The three day event featured emerging designers, including a plethora of high school designers. I must admit, the highschool designs were quite impressive. Their garments were very detailed, well made and inspiring. A few of the designers included Terri Stevens(from last season's Project Runway),Alisha Trimble,Tissh, and my favorite, Gerald Duroseau! Maybe I'll work on my pieces and push to participate in BK fashion wkend in the Fall. You guys must come if so!!!

MOVE OVER UK..TOP SHOP IS HERE..

It's been a week since Top Shop opened in Soho and the line is still long with an anticipated 20-30 minute wait to get in..BANANAS!!! I was on Broadway the other day, so I decided to snap some shots of the faithful TOPSHOP customers..I haven't been in, but from what I hear, it's 80's crazy. I've been sick for the past hmmm 5-6 days or so.I'm assuming it's the change of weather in addition to a problem with my finger. It's been one sickness after another, but I'm taking the wise words from India Arie"Slow it down baby, You're going too fast. You got your hands in the air and your feet on the gas." I get anxious sometimes and just try to do everthing!lol Anywho, I used the healing days at home as time to brush up my portfolio, apply for "out of the box" jobs and when I just felt like taking it easy and laying in the bed-I popped in my FAV movies....Yep.. Brown Sugar, The Devil Wears Prada, and Sex and the City!!!I promise, these movies are a life saver on a rainy day, sick day, lonely day or whatever. I've probably seen Brown Sugar a Gazillion times, and I'll never get tired of it..Until Next time!

St. Patty's day for me was a bit of a chill, until I ventured off into the city for Sweet Cheeba's Launch party a few blocks from SOHO. This HIP Hopish event was far from normal. It's oringinality spoke just minutes after walking into "Sole Food"-the venue for the night. Sweet Cheeba displayed a few of their new ecccentric T's during this event along with catering to it's guest with a splash of green cocktails in consideration of St. Patrick's Day...

I had my first styling project, which I absolutely loved. I assisted this fashionista with finding trendy items on a reccesionista budget. We rambled in Soho, which has basically every store ya need. I think I could do this on a daily basis. Why not? So, I wanted to piggy back on some of her fav celebrity styles that's not afraid to step OUTSIDE THE BOX and mix/match non-traditional items.She has a free spirit and open mind so it wasn't that difficult at all. Good times and it didn't feel like work BC I love to style and design..It's what I was born ta doa..aight.I'll follow up with after pics!chao.

Woke up Monday to 5-6 inches of snow.I'll admit,it was beautiful! However, I've grown out of my S. Madden snow boots so I squealed all the way to Manhattan, soul stepping through the icy snow. I did get a seat on the train though!I guesss the commuters from Jersey, Long Island and heck even some from Brooklyn decided that it was just too much.

We started off at an art show at a cute little underground spot by the Williamsburg bridge, AND headed to an Asian restaurant for food, drinks and karaoke!Check out the pics

Harriet's Alter Ego... Gone?

There are parts of Brooklyn that I love especially the intricate little boutiques that line up Flatbush and 5th Ave. I was highly anticipating visiting Harriet's Alter Ego, a "fashion hub for those who understand the fine art of style." It's overall a very afro"trendy"centric experience, offering everything from yoga classes, to art exhibits, to one of a kind clothing pieces. The employees are extremely nice. They never fail to create a sisterly environment, making us all feel like family. As stated on thier website "It's truly a lifestyle brand where fashion imitates life"... Brilliant!
Sadly, I realized that the boutique has closed:-(( I'm assuming due to ECONOMIC conditions, but I'm not totally sure.I'll have to find another spot..

This phenomenal designer is only 26, and her humility stands out among all the chaos and confusion of the fashion industry. Hi Fam and Friends,
I haven't blogged in about a week, because I've been trying get my portfolio together for interviews next week, interning, and taking a quick sketching class. By the time I take the train,wait on the bus,ride 25 blocks, and walk 3 blocks to get back to Brooklyn, I PASS OUT! AND START OVER AGAIN THE NEXT DAY!
Anyway, within a week's time,I've met new people and learned new things as usual.
So I'll give you a brief rundown.
1)I've been trying to stick to a diet, but I gave in last Sunday after leaving church only to smell the red velvet cupcakes lingering from Make My Cake bakery in Harlem.It's a really trendy spot owned by a young lady all the way from West Point, Mississippi. She moved to New York in the 1940s and brought her fine recipes of southern homemade desserts.mmmmm....

2)The designer at the internship suggested that I redo my portfolio.I must admit, it needed some doctoring for sure. So hopefully my creativity and hard work on this project will impress someone and help in my efforts to get a job.

Just a little snippet from the catwalk sectionof my portfolio. I'm emphasizing some 2009 Spring trends including plaid,sculptural shapes, Floral print, and Ruffles.

3) A lot of the sample makers and pattern makers at the internship are Chinese.So of course, they educated us on the festivities of the Chinese New Year. It takes place on January 26, and they never fail to bring it in with a BANG! You can't wipe a smile of their face during this time, and they bring in food and desserts everyday.This is the year of "Wu-Zi" and 2009 is 4705 on the Chinese calender. They also give their friends and families "Red Bags" with money to keep for the rest of the year for good luck. I'm trying not to spend the money..lol

Fashion and Progress

I must admit, I was really pulling for Michelle Obama to wear The eggplant purple coat and suit designed by Tracy Reese, but she chose an ensemble by designer, Isabel Toledo.Her elegant dress was bright and creamy yellow, and as stated in Time magazine, "It represented Optimism!" Perfect! Although Michelle didn't choose one of my favorite designers for the inauguration, she immediately won my vote by choosing a one shoulder dress for her ballgown. Her structured heart shaped face and outstandng collar bone is a perfect fit for the one shoulder. Lovely! Moreover, the first family gives us progress, hope, a change, and FASHION!What more could you ask for? I have to take time tommorow and watch Obama's speech. I had a busy day with class and the internship, so I missed most of it.:-((

Forget about the traditional Baby showers with finger foods, a little punch, a couple of clothes pins, mommy trivia games and a cute little cake. One of my girlfriend's Nadia and her fam showed me that West Indians from Belize celebrates an incoming life with a PAR-TAE!! I attended a bbyshwer in Long Island, and boy was there tons of food and people..

Hi Guys,
Despite the weather conditions in the city, I still had to cater to my social life this weekend.lol.It's been snowing all weekend, which reminds me that I left a lot of my boots at home :-((I NEED THEM..ASAP SOMEBODY..UPS!!!..
There was No Notorious, but I'll make my way to the movies at some point to see it.
Okay, so while conversing with one of my homeboys, Degratia, the question was asked pertaining to things I would like to improve about myself. One of the things I should work on is spreading out my goals and accomplishing them one by one. However, I have been putting off a project that's been planted in my heart for soooooooooo long. As most of you know, St. Jude children's hospital pratically saved my life, and pretty much helped to keep me healthy my whole life thus far.I wanted to plan a charity event for St. Jude 2 years ago, but I've put it off for that long.(bad, I know) So,that will be an ongoing and tedious task, but it's worth it. I have most of my ideas, I just have to do as I've done before and GO FOR IT!!!I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've chosen to stay in NY, instead of attending the inauguration. After weighing options, pros/cons,etc, it's logical for me to stay put. For one, there will be millions of people, I will have to rush back for class Tuesday, and everyone knows the most important reaseon MON-NAE HON-NAE! Thanks Management! Sooo, instead of the inaugural events, I'm going to see the Notorious B.I.G movie tomorrow, and hanging/partying with some friends in Long Island Saturday. I have not been taking pictures in the last two days, but I promise to take plenty this weekend. However, you can enjoy this clip of some fellas Vogue-n at Penn Station on 34th Street

Anyway, I'm interning at my last internship, Antsy( a junior knitwear company in the garment district) until I find a job. It's white,It's 2 inches deep, it is a mess after a while..It's SNOW! It snowed all day yesterday. Of course I had to remind myself that I'm no longer in the forgiving South. You know when everything shuts down and everyone stays in the house because it's snowing...hmm Although it's 20 degrees and slushy as heck out, I need to venture into the city:-)) So I met up with a new group of friends that work mostly in advertising. We had a scrumptious dinner at Juniors( well known for their cheesecake).

As most of you know, I just moved to New York to further pursue my career as a fashion designer. I've already gotten a taste of NYC by interning with one of my favorite designers, Trina Turk for three months. After being in the south for 6 months, I felt the need to move back to NY and join the hustle and bustle of the fashion industry.This blog will allow you to follow my journey to success. This is my first day in NYC! I must admit, I'm extremely exhausted. I booked a 6 am flight after a night of giggling and watching movies one last time with friendsin TN. Needless to say, yea I missed that flight. So I'm the result of a lack of sleep and flight delays. However, I will be Ready to grind 2moro!
